Light and Airy Family Photos // Hillsboro Family Photographer

Filed in: Families

Oh friends, this session! The adorable family. The light. The dog. The swishy dress. The perfect little cheeks on the baby. I can’t even. Megan contacted me for light and airy family photos and I loved working with her on all the details to make that happen! We chose a field in summertime for the clean, light background, and Megan wore the most perfect light colored chiffon dress. I usually recommend clothing with pastel pinks or pastel blues for light and airy sessions since they’re so easy to find, but she found this incredible shade of light and muted green for her dress that worked perfectly! It gave the whole session a softer, more organic feel, and I’m totally loving it!

We also did a morning session–if you can swing an early morning, it’s always worth it for that summer morning light! It’s clean and glows just perfectly. And bonus, because it was morning, the little one was in her best mood!

The dog. You KNOW I freaked out when I saw how adorable this one was. We have a golden retriever too, and this guy’s chill attitude gave me hope for when we get past the puppy phase! What made this session even more relaxed for the family was that they brought a helper for their dog! I recommend this in my post about how to bring your dog to your photo session, and when clients can make it happen, it really does make for an easier, more relaxed session. After the pup made his appearance in the first fifteen minutes of our session, Megan’s mom took him for a little walk around the park while we did the rest of the session. Everyone was able to focus on each other and they ended up with a great variety of photos. Totally worth it!

This session was an incredible way to close out my summer season–it’s been a weird, crazy, HARD year but I feel so grateful to my clients for entrusting me to photograph these days for them! I’ll be taking a little hiatus while I get the hang of homeschooling over here (send ALL the advice and well wishes! Ahhh!) but I’ll be back and booking as soon as we get it figured out and it’s safe to shoot!
