Engagement sessions are the BEST! First, I think it’s just always fun to get out and shoot somewhere pretty with a couple in love, I mean, that’s kiiiiiind of the whole reason I got into this! BUT, I also feel like engagement sessions are just ESSENTIAL in your wedding photography experience! Whenever I do consultations with a potential wedding client, we always spend some time talking about this. I include a complimentary engagement session in all of my wedding collections because it really is just the most important part of the process (and, well, it’s fun to gift things!). Not only do you get some fabulous photos to spiff up your wedding website, print out on a canvas for the reception, or put onto your save the dates, but we also get to know each other! I’ve never met anyone who shows up to a photo session and is not at least a little bit nervous. So why in the world would you want to feel nervous about photos on your wedding day? We get all of those getting-my-picture-taken jitters out of the way at the engagement session, so that by the time I show up on your wedding day, you’re ready to go! You’ll be comfortable with me and my camera on your wedding day, and I’ll know your best poses…win win! I was lucky that all of my couples rocked their engagement sessions–they showed up ready to snuggle up with each other and we made some beautiful photos! Today I’m sharing my faves from 2018 engagement sessions!
So first, can we talk about how excited I was to find Spanish moss hanging from the oak trees at Champoeg for Jenna and Armando’s engagement photos?? I’m totally jealous of those southern photographers who get to experience locations with it all the time, and I may be crossing my fingers for a reason to go out to Charleston sometime soon (just putting that out there, universe!)
And then? Taylor and Colby brought me to Pacific City for their engagement session! What?? I was IN LOVE with that place! We found magic light, they looked adorable, and I basically could have stayed all day. When can I go back?
I totally loved how Angela and Josiah loved Champoeg as much as I do. They were getting married there, so of course they took the opportunity to do their engagement session there too! When my couples love a place the same way I do, it’s the best!
Awww, Mykael and Evan’s summery engagement session on the dock!
Me: “Do you two want to try a dip?”
Their wedding is in 2019 and I’m SO EXCITED for it!! Their colors are coral and teal and I am just in love with her style already!
One of my favorite fall images! Their wedding is coming up in 2019 too!
We did this engagement session at Jenkins Estate in Beaverton, and it was pouring rain when we got there! We stuck it out and BAM! Magic happened.
Okay–I’m getting SO PUMPED about 2019 wedding season after seeing some of these fabulous engagement sessions I’ve already done for 2019 couples! Kaitlin and Tylor headed down to the dock in the fall with me and it was perfection!
Yep…2019 is going to be a good year! I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of my 2019 couples this spring and summer for their engagement photos!!
