I'm so thrilled to be sharing these photographs with you today!! I assisted Katy Ann Photography with a beautiful jewel-toned wedding last month in Hubbard, Oregon, at the historic Hubbard Chapel. The bride wore a breathtaking TEAL dress and carried a bouquet of purple flowers and vintage broaches. Her bridesmaids wore beautiful jewel toned dresses in blues, purples, and soft yellows. I was just in LOVE with these colors! Everything was so detailed, rich, and lush. Thank you, Katy, for inviting me to assist you on this beautiful wedding!
After featuring Halsey's family session at Jenkins Estate on the blog earlier this week, I decided it was time for another installment of my location series! One of my favorite places to shoot at is Jenkins Estate in Aloha, just off Farmington and 209th. The reason I love it is for the variety it offers--there's a forested area, a botanical garden, a field, and a historic farmhouse built in 1912. It's so easy to find new corners of this park to shoot in to keep it looking new each time! And, I'm not sure what it is, but it gets MAGICAL light at almost any time of day (last year's afternoon mini sessions can attest to this!).
The Jenkins Estate is probably my favorite place to shoot in the fall--it gets fabulous fall colors on its tree-lined path. I could shoot those trees all day in every season and probably never get tired of them!
The Jenkins Estate is owned by Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District, and if you're a mom, you're probably familiar with their excellent playground at the south entrance of the park. It has rubberized ground underneath the play equipment instead of bark chips, which is a GODSEND for parents of kids who are in that wonderful everything-goes-in-the-mouth phase. But, behind their stables, the Jenkins Estate is also a beautiful wedding venue! Elephants Catering manages all of their wedding bookings, and I've seen some truly beautiful weddings happen there--we're so lucky to have this historic farm right here in Aloha!
There are some definite perks to my job. I'm lucky to live in an area where there are other photographers like me that are dedicated to creating a positive community of artists! One of my goals when I moved to Hillsboro from Sacramento was to grow a network of like-minded photographers--and one of the first people I came across was Halsey! Halsey is one of those photographers who believes in building community. She's a great photographer who specializes in newborns, an amazing mom to her little girl, and my go-to for questions on babywearing, hiking with babies, and cloth diapering! You might remember her from a session I did a while back with her and her daughter, but last week her husband came to the session too so that they could get some family photos at Jenkins Estate in Aloha!
AHHH!! This contest was so fun to do!! This last week has been so awesome, watching some of my past clients come back and share their sessions with their friends. You all have some of the sweetest friends and family out there, because some of those comments that came in were just so full of LOVE!! Everyone had such sweet, heartfelt reasons for loving the photos of their friends and families. Awwww.
With twelve votes, photo #18 blew up my comment feed! Congratulations, Lisa, on your brand new canvas! I'll be in touch so we can talk ordering details! Everyone loved this sweet photo of your two little girls having storytime together.
Our runners up were #12, #7, #30, #25, #26, #13, and #4. Thank you all so much for voting!!
It's only the second day of the month, but I am 100% sure that the next 30 days are going to FLY by! Not only do I have weddings and family sessions on the calendar that I'm already thrilled about, but one of my closest friends is getting married this month, and we have a ton of wedding excitement coming up!
Last weekend, the other bridesmaids and I hosted a bridal shower for her at Montinore Estate in Forest Grove, and of course I HAD to share some photos! I've been working nonstop on these watercolor Paris-themed decorations, and I'm super happy with how it all turned out! As usual, I don't know how I would throw a party ever without Pinterest, which is where most of the printables came from. And the people at Montinore were so helpful and super sweet! Because one of the bridesmaids is a member of their wine club, we were able to use their incredibly GORGEOUS Garden House for the party--which had french doors that opened out onto a beautiful shaded patio. AHHHH! I probably could have spent all day there. Montinore is definitely on my permanent list of places to stop when I'm out wine tasting in Forest Grove!
